Laboratory of geochronology and geochemistry of isotopes
The main purpose of the laboratory is to develop new methodical
and methodological approaches for the development and improvement of isotope
geochronology, geochemistry, and cosmochemistry. Along with getting a significant
amount of isotope data, the study of the mobility of radiogenic and radioactive
isotopes (U, Pb, Sm, Nd, Rb, Sr, Xe, He) in the crystal lattice of minerals
in natural processes (magmatism, metamorphism, metasomatism) is carried
This approach should provide a solution to several fundamental problems of geochemistry and cosmochemistry:
1. Modeling of the formation of early Earth’s matter, i.e. the question of the chondrite or achondrite nature of this substance. The history of the early Earth and its spheres including the core, based on long-lived and short-lived radioactive isotope data.
2. Assessment of the possibilities and limitations of an integrated approach involving isotopic and petrological-geochemical methods for the periodization, duration and dynamics of structural-metamorphic transformations in the areas of polycyclic endogenous processes.
3. Reconstruction of temperature-time evolution of geological objects using complex isotopic techniques and related theoretical approaches. Creating a database of modern thermochronology.
4. Using isotope-geochemical methods for the study of matter exchange in the mantle in the areas of intraplate magmatism. Defining the nature and age of the source of precious metal granitoids.
